My story
I started Leash and Teach because I kept seeing the same thing: dogs who were perfectly capable of learning, and owners who genuinely wanted to do right by their dogs — but the training they'd tried just didn't stick. Classes in a facility. Commands that worked at home but nowhere else. Frustration on both ends of the leash.
So I built a different approach. Every session I run happens in the real world — on your street, in your neighborhood, inside your home. That's where your dog actually lives, and that's where the learning needs to happen. I use positive reinforcement exclusively, because it works, it's kind, and it builds a relationship between you and your dog instead of just compliance.
I've been working with dogs and their families in Monmouth County for over six years. I've helped reactive dogs learn to walk calmly past other dogs. I've helped puppies build solid foundations. I've helped families with dogs who'd been labeled 'untrainable' discover that the right approach makes all the difference. I'd love to help yours.

Why positive reinforcement — and nothing else
There are trainers who use punishment, corrections, and aversive tools. I'm not one of them — not because I'm soft, but because the science is clear. Reward-based training produces faster learning, better retention, and a dog who wants to work with you rather than one who's simply avoiding consequences. It also builds trust. And trust is what makes every other part of your relationship with your dog easier.
